Vertical integration of sciences: an approach to a different view of knowledge organizationMadrid, Spain, emilia.Curras{at}uam.es This article attempts to explain ideas regarding the integration of sciences as a systemic unity of greater complexity than may have been considered before. It is also another way to create a different organization of knowledge. An ascending or descending vertical integration might help in interpreting questions posed by mankind and in providing answers that are urgently required. All aspects of the global ecology, in the widest sense, appear to be threatened, and the problems need to be freshly addressed as solutions are urgently needed. A study of the vertical integration of sciences, with all its complexity, might provide some clues to practical answers.
