A highly visible scientist - Jack MeadowsVictoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, michael.brittain{at}vuw.ac.nz The results of a bibliometric study of the publications of Meadows are reported; in particular, the cumulative growth in the number of publications and citations received over a 40-year period is documented. Citations made to two articles and a monograph are examined in detail, particularly the context of citations, in order to explain the reasons authors appear to have for citing his work. There is a brief discussion of the methodology of identifying and categorising context of citations, as this is an area of bibliometrics relatively unexplored.
